Day 18: Back to IRAF

I successfully finished placing an aperture around the sample of 10 galaxies for Sravani. I had to go back and fix the ones that I had done yesterday, because I hadn’t changed the contrast of the image, so they were not showing the entire galaxy. Almost all of the corrected images were satisfactory, so now Sravani knows what she has to do for her code. Now it’s time for me to return to learning IRAF. I have to admit that going through the tutorial is much easier after several attempts. I have definitely gotten farther than previous times. When I completely finish going through this tutorial, Sravani gave me another one that will show me how to carry out tasks with IRAF that have multiple parts. I’m excited to get to know IRAF better, so I will be able to start using it on all of the galaxies.
